Opportunities

Family involvement is a critical component of early childhood programs at the Early Learning Center. Parents are the first and most important teachers of their children. Therefore, it is essential that they be actively involved in their children's education. A variety of family involvement options are available. Examples include: parent outreach events, opportunities to volunteer in the classroom or for building events, and parent-child activities.

Family OUTREACH EVENTS

As part of our commitment to strong family–school partnerships, the Early Learning Center hosts parent outreach events throughout the school year modeled after Wisconsin’s state-supported 4K outreach initiatives. 

Typically, at least one event is held every month, with some months featuring multiple events to provide extra opportunities for families. These gatherings are designed to support parents/guardians in fostering their children’s early learning and school readiness at home. These events help strengthen your role as your child’s first and most influential teacher by building community support through shared activities and information.

Gingerbread House-Making

These houses utilize a variety of items donated by families. A physical activity offered in the lower level is the Gingerbread Run. Parents and children alike may participate in this annual event!

Tucker Rewards

The students earn marbles in their classroom for positive school behavior. The students are rewarded throughout the school year with all-school events that include movies and student performers from other SASD schools. Tucker Turtle visits the classrooms throughout the year to encourage students to follow the rules.
