Library

Students at the Early Learning Center come to the library every other week for a half-hour session. During this time, the library assistant reads the students’ stories and leads other activities. The students are allowed to take one book home with them and return it the next time they come to their scheduled library time. This is a great first-time library exposure for many children. On the week when students do not come to the library, a literacy staff member visits classrooms for a half-hour literacy period, during which they read stories and conduct other activities.

The library assistant is the full-time library and technology support staff member at the Early Learning Center. The reading assistant supports literacy instruction at the Early Learning Center. The district librarian travels to three other libraries but can be reached by email anytime. The library team works together to ensure the library is a positive, welcoming first-time experience for children.
